Top three vehicles from Auto Shanghai 2017
In late April, the auto industry focuses its attention to Asia when China hosts its annual international automotive event. Shifting between Shanghai and Beijing, 2017 represents the former city’s turn to host Auto Shanghai at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre. Here are the top three standouts.
Audi e-tron Sportback concept
The latest in the four-ringed brand’s evolution towards fully electric mobility, this concept vehicle is a sporty SUV styled after the company’s other four-door coupes. Coming complete with Matrix LED lighting, cameras that replace the side mirrors and gargantuan 23-inch wheels, the e-tron Sportback is powered by one electric motor in the front and two in the back producing a net 430 horsepower. A 95-kilowatt-hour battery provides more than 500 kilometres of range.
2018 Lexus NX
After breaking into the subcompact crossover segment in 2014 with the NX, the mini SUV has been refreshed and given a host of upgrades. One of the most noticeable are the available premium headlamps containing a triple set of LED projectors, similar to the units found on the new LC luxury coupe. The edges of the front spindle grille have been refined and now feature a smoked satin chrome treatment. The rear tailgate has been reshaped to mirror the look of the grille.
Inside, the center display gains an additional 3.3 inches in size, and trim pieces have also been given metallic satin finishes. The Adaptive Variable Suspension system from the LC has been adapted to the NX, and finally, the turbocharged four-cylinder NX 200t has been renamed the NX 300.
BMW M4 CS
Looking for a car that’s got a bit more bite than the Competition Package BMW M4 Coupe, but not as much as the track-ready M4 GTS? Then give the M4 CS a try. This “brand shaper” limited edition vehicle makes 460 horsepower and gallops from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, while still managing to achieve an estimated 8.4 L/100 km combined city/highway fuel economy rating. Sharing a lot of parts with the two aforementioned models, an exposed carbon fibre front splitter and Gurney trunk lip are some of the extras that set the CS apart.
